Subject: A: Changes to CDD and PASCAL.
******** This memo contains important information *********
******** regarding proposed changes to CDD and *********
******** Pascal versions that we use. *********
******** Please forward as needed. *********
A couple of serious bugs that affect SD&E software development have been
detected in CDD V4.2 and PASCAL V4.0, which are installed on FUTURS
within EASE V5.3-2.
Testing has shown that these bugs are fixed in CDD V4.2A, and in PASCAL
V4.1. This upgrade will not affect the field; they will remain on CDD V4.2
and PACSAL V4.0.
I therefore intend to upgrade these two products on FUTURS early next
week, probably on Tuesday morning after full backups on FUTURS on Monday
evening.
Please contact me before Monday afternoon if you have a concern with this
plan.
Regards, Peter.
Technical information follows :
The CDD V4.2 problem is that segmented strings cause the compiler to abort.
Martin Beake can provide more information.
The Pascal V4.0 problem is that Class_S string cause the compiler to
generate fatal error messages. Mark Chambers can provide more information.
