386.0. "Bookreader files not available " by CUCKOO::SPENCER (tiggers hate mondays) Mon Nov 12 1990 11:19

Bookreader can't access the files on pastit at the moment - comes back with an
ACP file access error - anyone looking into it?

The DFS points Pas_data%, and Disk$booklib
haven't been set up.

Annoying, isn't it?

David.

(and No, I haven't logged it)

Also, Someone (Now I've mounted the devices) seems to have "Tidied up"
the .decw$bookshelves.. and this means that some of the books aren't
accessable.

eg STARS documentation...

I haven't looked for any other "Lost parent" ones..

(and I haven't got the privs to edit Library.decw$bookshelf)

Grrr...
386.3An up-to-date library !PODULE::GREENMon Nov 12 1990 14:2122
Dave,

Once I realised that there was more in the common
bookreader area than was in the library.decw$bookshelf
that is on pastit, I created my own that I use
on my workstation.

It specifies the remote directory to locate the
required documents. It was fine until the
pastit DFS thingy stopped working ?

How do you mount the Pastits disk from the
workstation ?

If you want a copy or if anyone else wants
it to edit it themselves, I'll mail it or
put it somewhere public?

PS. I promise it wasn't me who changed the
existing library.decw$bookshelf on pastit?
Honest !
386.4If it's DFS, Call Jerry ThompsonHEWIE::RUSSELLMiddle-aged Mutant Hero Turtle (UK option)Mon Nov 12 1990 15:3210
He's now at Newbury full time, so could one of you who know what the
problem is call him at 7-774-6020, if it's a DFS access problem.

I know the DFS access points were all re-thingied a short while ago;
maybe these haven't been done... (Re-thingied is a technical term that
consultants use when they can't remember the right one!)

If it isn't DFS, call me on x 2464, and I'll have a look!

Peter.

I Issued the commands right out of the dfs$systartup.com in sys$manager..

all those referring to Pas_ ...etc..

and all was OK.
