This may be of interest to anyone using or attempting to use DTM. After thousands (I exaggerate not), of problems with DTM V3.1-B on VMS V5.3, I installed DTM V3.2 on HARRYH. We now have no problems whatsoever ! CMS works fine, we never get the "There is a bug" error message, and all the other bugs I've found seem to be fixed ! DTM V3.2 runs under VMS V5.3 V5.3-1, V5.3-2, or V5.4. The SQM kit was released on 19-SEP-1990 and includes enhancements to the DECWindows testing capabilities, along with loads of bug-fixes ! Essentially, there is no difference between this release and External Field Test 2 (T3.2-6) other than version number changes. It might be an idea to install it on FUTURS, and before everyone shouts EASE at me, after the problems with V3.1-B you'll save days, maybe even weeks with this version ! The DTM V3.2 kit may be obtained by mounting the Distributed File Service (DFS) access point .ZKO.S.CLT.KITS_1 and copying/installing the [DTM.KITS]DTM032.% save sets. Release notes are available in the same directory ( DTM$032.RELEASE_NOTES ). PAK's must be obtained through VTX. The following example shows how you could copy the save sets using the DFS access point: $ mcr dfs$control mount .zko.s.clt.kits_1 clt_kits1 $ copy/log clt_kits1:[dtm.kits]dtm032.% some-dev:[some-dir] Hope this is of help ! Can we have an upgrade of DTM on FUTURS to V3.2 please... I'm getting *very* bored of seeing the same Stackdump again and again and again and again.... | |||||

the problem is I don't know when. We now have the kits available on CD; but someone needsd to check the release notes to find out whether libraries need to be re-loaded, etc. The system management group is a bit thin on the ground at the best of times, and is down even further at the moment due to hols, etc. I can't see it being done before the end of this week, at best. So, if some one would volunteer to do some reading for us, you might be able to get it sooner..... Peter. |
