332.0. "I cant see 4 miles and miles.." by CURRNT::WRIGHT (LDIR can make the earth move) Wed May 09 1990 15:32

I'm not sure if this has been asked before.

Is there anyway in which i (or any one) can look at a print queue
from the point of view of the printer. For example if I do a show
queu lps40$oyster from CHEST I would like to see all of the jobs
queued to OYSTER not just the ones being queud from chest.

    It's dead easy, Tony.

You go to the printer, and use it's VDU to look at the queues....
You don;t need privilges to do it, either!

Of course, the printserver only accepts one job at a time from
each of it's "clients", so if someone if ahead of you in the
queue from CHEST, then you haven't even made it as far as the LPS
    yet...

But there is no way to see from your node what the LPS is doing,
    que-wise.

    Peter.

    But an LPS20 hasn't got a VDU....
332.3Or has someone "borrowed" the VDU?CRATE::RUSSELLI should have got a Duracell!!Thu May 10 1990 10:0415

Has it not? Well, you live and learn!!!

    I wonder how you start it/stop it/load software/etc?

One of these days when I have some time spare, I'll go in search of the
    LPS20 and find out.

In the meantine, if any one else knows....

Thanks Peter, I already new about the VDU but that still only shows
a few jobs (as you pointed out one from each client).
