326.0. "ADG Disk UN-Space" by CURRNT::DAVIES (Close, but no banana.) Thu Apr 12 1990 11:42

As we are once again struggling to keep our heads above water in
respect of available disk space across the clusters it is my intenetion
to do global purges on ALL disks on each cluster tonight (12-04-90)
NOTE: This will only keep ONE version!!!

If you have any objections to this please let me know - I appreciate
that this is short notice but it isn't as short as when I get phone
calls from people saying that there is NO space on disk xxxx.

Please try to purge your accounts regularly. Can those of you
responsible for projects please monitor those projects and ensure
that the application environments do not fill up with unnecessary
    rubbish.

If you're copying .PS/.LN03 files/manuals onto machines then after
you've printed them please DELETE them. You wouldn't believe the
number of these files that are lying around.

If any of you are keeping copies of various kits from eons past
then consider whether or not you still need them.

Please also check for .BCK/.SAV files. Are they still valid/required?

Bear in mind: I am not able to spend all of my time running around
from disk to disk checking directories etc for rubbish. That would
be a never ending job - I have too many other things to do.

I need everyone to spend as little as 10-15 minutes doing a clean-up
of there personal directories and any project directories which
    they have access too.

It is not a pain - it is necessary. If you need the space for something
that you have to work on then you'll appreciate the effort that
you and your colleagues put in.

    Keith.
