322.0. "Major cluster shutdowns/rebuilds." by HEWIE::RUSSELL (I should have got a Duracell!!) Wed Feb 21 1990 15:56

This note is giving advance warning of major cluster engineering works
that will take place over week-ends in March and April.

Two new 6000-420 processors are scheduled for delivery in early March.
After installation and shakedown, they will form the FUTURS cluster.

The CURRNT cluster will then be re-built as 1 x 6000-340 and 1 x 8700.
(One node will be removed).

The PASTIT cluster will then be re-built as 2 x 8700's.

ORFUL will end up as 2 x 8530's.

In this way, each cluster ends up with more CPU power than today.

The cluster moves will take place over week-ends. This means that
there will be *no* ADG clusters available for some or all of the
weekends that the work is taking place on.

If you have a requirement for service over week-ends during March or
April, please mail me on Peter Russell @UCG (RUSSELLP) so that we
can take it into account when we work with I.S. and Field Service to
arrange this major undertaking.

Peter.
