297.0. "LCG01 Colour Printer" by NECK::THOMPSON (Jerry Thompson (7)781-4421) Wed Nov 22 1989 16:37

        Announcing Cluster Wide -the Democratisation of the LCG01 colour printer

1) All nodes in the ADG clusters will shortly have access to the LCG01
 colour printer in A-Block printer room.

        To use it you'll need to pick up a couple of symbols defined in the
system wide login. Then you can print files (REGIS/SIXEL and a few other
obscure formats) as follows:

$       LCG myfile.SIXel
Enter the name of the LCG01 print queue (default: CLRA1):
Enter the desired number of copies (default: 1):
Add bolding for transparencies? (default: NO)
Black white reversal? (default: NO)
Portrait (P) or Landscape (L) (default: P):
Job MYFILE (queue CLRA1, entry 44) printing

        ... and wait a few minutes while the LCG01 winds up its rubber bands
	and prints.

        Martin Gurran is keeping up with new graphic display developments
        and is the person to contact if you want help with the software.

        Suky Hundal has volunteered to look after the LCG01 printer
        hardware.

        One very important point, unless you know exactly what you're doing
        PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not fiddle with the buttons on the printer
        yourselves; it's extreeeemly temperamental and can take a long time
        to set up again - call Suky instead.

297.1LCG01 printer queue working NECK::THOMPSONJerry Thompson (7)781-4421Fri Nov 24 1989 16:4811
	FUTURS/CURRNT/PASTIT and all workstations booted from PERKY now have
access to the LCG01 printer via the queue CLRA1.

	It's intended to use this printer for transparencies only, but for the
time being the default output medium will be paper. If you want an
overhead slide printed out then contact Suky Hundal before you print it. He'll
load the transparency blanks for you.

	When (and if) we get the reverse LAT service working to the LJ250
colour printer on LEG, that will become available for paper copies of colour
prints and the LCG01 will be used for transparencies only.
