Over the next few days Distributed File Service disks will be available on FUTURS/PASTIT/CURRNT and the PERKY cluster. Namely.... disk$standards - contains ADG standards documents as found in sys$public on ELBOW. and on CURRNT you will see disk$PAS_DATA1 disk$PAS_DATA2 disk$PAS_DATA3 disk$PAS_DATA4 which correspond to the 4 data volume on PASTIT. The standards disk will be readable straight away. Data on PASTIT will not be readable from CURRNT until changes have been made to proxy databases. If you think you'll need access to your data on PASTIT from your username on CURRNT then please contact the system managers or the ADG Consultants group. Access of this kind should enable you to provide support for applications with sources on PASTIT running under the operating system on CURRNT. Could prove handy during the next EASE migration window when CURRNT is running EASE V5.1 and PASTIT is running EASE V5.0 and eliminate the need to duplicate application sources. Users on the PERKY LAVc should soon be able to see all the data disks on all the ADG clusters + others such as the CD bookreader volume.

275.1 | DNS & DFS are back | CURRNT::THOMPSON | Tue Apr 10 1990 12:59 | 17 | |
A new DNS server (SBPDNS::) has been set up to handle DNSish type requests. Disks on all 3 main clusters are once more served between nodes so you should be able to use DFS for fast access across clusters. You will of course still need non-privileged proxy accounts set up to do this. Please let me know if you're interested in using DFS in this way. As we havn't yet got LAVC's back on the air, some old DFS access points such as ye olde ELBOW$PUBLIC: directory are not available. Once ELBOW has been rebuilt then such access points will no doubt reappear again. Those of you with workstations who want to use DFS/DNS once the LAVC's are running should contact me if they want details of the new DNS naming standards required to build site specific DFS startup files which add or mount access points.
