258.0. "Warning, ADGDOC may not produce specs to IS standards." by CRATE::JANJUA (Danish Janjua ) Tue Jul 18 1989 17:25

    Just a warning regarding ADGDOC,

I, like most people (well most that I spoke to) on this site thought
that ADGDOC was an ADG documentation standard for producing quality specs
like the Functional & Design Specs, this is not the case.

Having had a lengthy discussion with the consultants (Lynn & Geoffrey
Darnton) the following are the points that you must bear in mind
    when preparing quality specs;

    1.	There are specific standards laid down for producing Functional
& Design specs etc., copies available from Sue East, all documentation
        must meet these standards.

    2.	Currently the Design Spec standard has a status of "proposed"
however paragraph 1.15.1 states that it became effective
        effective on 1-March-89.
You will need to check the status of each standard.

    3. ADGDOC is a tool that was concieved about 3 years ago and mostly
does not meet the current IS standards, however the FS from ADGDOC
comes fairly close, but the Design Spec comes nowhere near it.

    4. You may use ADGDOC as a tool to help in the production of a
document, however you are responsible for making sure that your
document meets the current IS Standard.

    	Danish.

This conflicts with what I was told several months ago. It went
    something like...

"ADGDOC should be used for ADG documentation, and E-DATA may be
    used for non-ADG documentation."

Clarification please from the Consultancy Group!
