241.2 | Last orders for VMS 4.7 | CUCKOO::THOMPSON | | Tue Jun 06 1989 13:35 | 33 |
| PASTIT will be upgraded from EASE V4.7 to EASE V5.0-2 tomorrow starting
at 4pm. Here's a list of tasks to perform before the shutdown starts:
1) If you use TPU get hold of the source file for your TPUSECINI so that
you can recompile for V5. Alternatively you can cheat and grab a file from
someone already on V5.
2) Anyone with RDB databases should do an RDO BACKUP to make sure they've
got a good copy in case the CONVERT fails under V5.
3)CMS - All libraries must be upgraded to CMS V3 format after CMS is upgraded
early on Thursday morning. To use V3.2. convert your old library by
CMS CONVERT LIBRARY <v2 library> <v3 library>
and specify an empty directory to receive the v3 library.
4)CMS - It's advisable to replace all reserved CMS modules in their library
before the V5 upgrade and subsequent CMS upgrade.
On Thursday morning (8th Jul) IS system managers will upgrade/reinstal
tools and ADG products not included in the standard EASE kit as follows:
CMS (45 mins)
STARS (2 hours?)
CHOPS (30 mins?)
BLK (30 mins?)
MDV (30 mins)
MENU (30 mins)
....and others.
The times are my guesstimates as to how long they might take to carry
out on a good day without any hiccups.
DON'T EXPECT ANY OF THESE PRODUCTS TO BE WORKING BEFORE 9AM THURSDAY
MORNING. IS WILL UPGRADE THEM AS SOON AS THEY CAN.

241.6 | Clarification... | HEWIE::RUSSELL | BX Turbo drivers do it with woooosh! | Mon Jun 19 1989 18:03 | 10 |
| re the last couple;
Yes, Terry, ADG is still part of I.S.
I think the point Jerry was making in .1 is that the I.S. Operations group
downstairs are only responsible for the regular backup schedule of our
systems; specific archival tasks are only performed "on demand", and it's
up to ADG to demand them.
Peter. (who also often just says "I.S.' when I really mean the ops group)

| Thanks Peter. That is what I was trying to say. Maybe you could give a talk
on effective writing one day.
