128.0. "LN03 Readable Job Pages ?" by FOOT::NICHOLSBY () Tue Mar 22 1988 12:16

    Jerry,

Is it posible to modify the queue on the LN03 so that a readable
job page is produced ? If this were so it would be easy to place
printout in the correct pigeon hole rather than leave it all spread
    out on the table.

Are there any others that share my wish ?

    						Ta,
    							Alan

    Good Idea!

Recently some jobs have been coming off with no header pages at
all. This makes them very difficult to do anything with.

Even stranger... Last week I got a readable job header sheet. It seemed
to be printed with width 120, which meant only 1 or 2 lines wrapped
round. The trailer page was just the usual old rubbish though.
    Copies available on request.

    Chris.

    Excellent idea!

Buttt, shoreley shumbody has solved this little chestnut before
us. Print/forms=xxx can be used to affect the content of the stuff
you send to a printer, but I think he no affect de header etc.

I've set the terminal port serving LN03$Q2 to have a width of 80
columns and this seems to produce a more readable header/trailer
page. At least you get the first half dozen or so characters printed
clearly and should help, unless your user name is PERKINS or PERKINST
when you'll have to check the small print at the bottom of the trailer
to see who printed it (Sorry Nicola, Tony)

I don't expect this change to have any nasty side effects on the
format of the file that is printed, but I'm sure you'll let me know
    if it does.

Anybody out there ever done anything with printer form libraries?

With the queue set up I can print/queue=ln03$q2/form=???
where ??? is portrait or landscape and it does it. After the job
has finished the printer is reset to the factory settings.

SYS$LIBRARY:SYSDEVCTL.TLB just contains the escape sequences for
    the printer controls etc
