105.2 | coming your way - but maybe not soon | ELBOW::DRAPER | Steve Draper | Tue Dec 22 1987 18:23 | 15 |
| Will it affect us, or have you already got it sorted.
Well.....its all a question of timing. We have ordered the replacement
fonts, but (what with the Christmas rush and everything) they may
not be here by Jan 1st, so you may find that you are without LN03
support for a while.
You should also be aware that, as these font licences cost a bomb
(in terms of what we are used to paying for s/w (i.e. nill)), and
as one licence only covers one cpu, generation of LN03 type documents
will be restricted to one CPU (probably FOOT). To reduce the load
impact, access to these files may have to be restricted to batch
only.

105.3 | LN03 queue changes | FOOT::THOMPSON | | Wed Dec 23 1987 17:30 | 9 |
| The LN03 printers (2 of them) will no longer be connected to VAX
printer queues after Christmas.
Instead, they'll be available for use from terminals/standalone
micros for high quality office printing. There will be one on each
floor.
In the event of the LPS40 printer breaking down they'll be reinstalled
in the printer room and the LN03 queues restarted.

105.4 | LPS40 parts shortage | RDGE28::THOMPSON | | Wed Jan 06 1988 10:16 | 16 |
| Now that we can't print .LN3 files on the LN03's until the new
licence arrives, fate has taken a cruel twist and effectively wiped
out the LPS40!
Not only has it developed a hardware fault in the optical unit,
but we've also run out of toner for it. In fact quite a lot of people
have run out of toner including DEC Park and Enterprise House.
And the good news?....the expected delivery date of the next batch is
is mid-January (for an order placed on December 17th)
So our printing capacity is about 50% of what it should be until
the toner is delivered. Can I therefore suggest that we moderate the size
of our print jobs on the remaining printers and (where possible) do
local printing.

105.5 | update please | CHEST::BARKER | Going downhill fast | Fri Jan 22 1988 15:36 | 9 |
| Any chance of an update on the LN03 DOCUMENT font problem.
I have a new release of DDMLS coming up in mid-Feb and would like
to distribute the doc's in LN03 format.
Thanks,
Chris.

105.6 | Licence update | FOOT::THOMPSON | | Tue Jan 26 1988 10:36 | 5 |
| The expected delivery date of the licence kit is "End of March 1988".
Until the LPS40 becomes more reliable one LN03 will remain as a
printer on the ADG cluster so we have at least one laser printer
available, albeit a noddy one.

>Until the LPS40 becomes more reliable
Do you have a delivery date for the LPS41 yet, then???

105.8 | DOCUMENT licence installed | FOOT::THOMPSON | | Fri Mar 04 1988 16:01 | 3 |
| The LN03 fonts have been installed on FOOT on the ADG cluster. It's
now possible to compile using DOCUMENT for output to the LN03
printer queue.

What's the situation now for LN03 fonts on the FUTURS cluster ?
(Will Release Management accept *.POST installation guides ?)
