Has anybody noticed that when accessing this conference, the number of new notes shown in ones header screen, is often greater than the actual number of new notes. This morning, after a NOTES/UPDATE I was assured of 4 exciting new notes, but was disappointed to only find 2. Anyone know why ? Chris.

I've noticed this phenomenon before, and not confined to just this conference either. Does anyone know if it's anything to do with the protocol version that the NOTES server is running ? Bob | |||||

Well, one probable answer is that a wally (like me) puts in a note, and on re-reading it sees a couple of speeling mistaeks, so I extracted the note, editted it, and replied it back. The counter is incremented to say two new notes, but I got rid of one of them, so you only see one. (You can only do this on the last reply to a note; if another note has been added, then the note number is not re-used, and it is skipped over and shown as a deleted note (I think).)
