73.0. "The truth? Maybe, maybe not, nevermind" by RDGE43::WRIGHT (Whats this do?) Tue Oct 13 1987 11:49

    Today I received an **URGENT** message saying not to use dtr or
    help for the next 30 minutes, due to V4.0 being installed. So I
    complied with this request. An hour later I had started using DTR
    (having painted the car park while I waited) only to see
    **URGENT** DTR V4.0 about to be installed please do not use.

    COME ON YOU GUYS GIVE US A CHANCE
    HOW ABUT SOME TRUTHFUL MESSAGES OR DID YOU ALL WORK FOR
    BRITISH RAIL BEFORE . .
                         !

73.1Nice painting......RDGE28::MARSHALL_SIFri Oct 16 1987 17:3817
    Well it's nice to see the car park looks a little nicer now!! I
    must say the choice of colours is dreadful!
    	Well to answer your observant question, the reason why the message
    was sent twice was because the first time I tried to install DTR
    some berk was in HELP and so the installation was cancelled due
    to an unexpected event!!!!! Also if you were more observant when
    it came to using DTR, you would realise that DTR has to be installed
    twice anyway because each installation can only support one forms
    management package - and since we have both FMS and TDMS for which
    support was wanted.....
    	The system management team try to make all possible attempts
    to prevent problems occuring whilst installations are performed.
    Messages are sent out to prevent possible problems occuring and
    I am quite sure you would be at the head of the queue to complain
    if any of your work got screwed up. So give me a little credit as
    I am only tring to help people like you!!!!

73.2Find out why before you fly!RDGE00::MARSHALLSteve Marshall, EURO ADG(UK)Fri Oct 16 1987 17:508

    C'mon Tony, put your brain in gear. DTR was installed OK, and it
    was me that raised a problem which resulted in the necessity for
    a re-installation. Why not try to find out why something was done
    before you fly off at the mouth abusing people?

    		Steve.

    I agree after reading a few days later it did seem abrupt. Sorry
    to sys_manager people for the tone of the note, it wasn't meant
    to be so harsh, it was just one of those mornings.
