56.0. "OUTPUT, WHAT OUTPUT?" by RDGE00::GARLAND (Howard GARLAND, ADG, 830-6287) Thu Jul 30 1987 12:50

Once upon a time...we were told that we wouldn't be allowed into the machine
room and the operators would split all the output and put it on the shelves
outside.

I never noticed a change (apologies to the operators if some did split output).

Then we were told that we were _still_ allowed into the machine room, but the
operators would _now_ regularly split the output (every hour?!).

Occasionally I noticed this being done, although not very regularly.

Since the printers have been moved, apathy on the part of a lot of ADG people
and the operators seems to have hit, and the output is normally in a huge mess.

TEAM, ARE THE OPERATORS STILL BEING PAID TO SPLIT OUTPUT REGULARLY?

Howard.

The current status regarding line printer output is as follows:

    1.	You are still allowed into the machine room to collect listings.

    2.	Bursting listings and placing uncollected listings (i.e. any
that have been printed before yours and are still on the printer)
is the COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERYBODY. It is NOT the operators
job to do this. If you find a persistant offender (i.e. somebody
who consistantly fails to collect their listings in a reasonable
time, or who always forgets to stack preceding listings), you can

    	a)	Discuss the matter with them (!!)
    	b)	Let Jerry Thompson know. He will no doubt take the matter
    		up with their manager.

    3.	The operators have agreed to deal with listings in the following
    manner:

    	a)	Every morning, the listing rack outside the computer
room will be emptied (i.e. junked).

    	b)	At that time, the listings on the rack in the computer
room will be moved to the rack outside the computer
    		room.

    	c)	Again, at that time, any listings lying around in the
computer room will be placed on the rack in the computer
    		room.

If you notice that this is not happening, you should inform
    Jerry Thompson or Shaun Marshall.

    Regards,
    	Steve
