Those people who need to use a spreadsheet on the ADG cluster will now find that 2020 (son of Supercomp 20) has been installed. To use 2020, you should include the line $@sys$sysdevice:[2020]2020sym.com in your LOGIN.COM file. To access 2020, simply type S2020 in response to the DCL prompt. Happy calculating, Steve

36.1 | V2 Anybody? | RDGE28::SADAT | Jambo!! | Mon Feb 09 1987 17:11 | 16 |
The version of 20/20 currently installed on the cluster is V1.13. The project that I am working on requires that V2 of 20/20 is used. Because I need to be able to test my spreadsheets in a clustered environment I would like to install V2.05 of 20/20 on the cluster. My question is therefore does anybody have any objection to me installing this version here? Please remember that the two versions may exist on the same machine simultaneously. If there is no objection by Monday 16th February I will go ahead and install it. Thanks, Tarik.

OK, I have put V2.05 of 20/20 on the cluster. If your process executes SYS$MANAGER:SYSLOGIN.COM when you login then to run the new version of 20/20 simply enter $ S2020 at the DCL prompt. I have modified the 20/20 initialisation procedure to determine the user's terminal type for itself, rather than prompt for it. If you have any difficulty with terminal types come and see me to sort it out! It is essential that you remove the existing "S2020" symbol assignment in your LOGIN.COM in order to run V2 as this points to the old V1 of 20/20. However, if you still want to run V1 (the two versions can exist simultaneously on the same system) then leave it in! Tarik.

It has subsequently transpired that V2.05 20/20 has some bugs in it, and was never officially released by Access Technology. I think we must be the only people in DEC using it! Therefore, would there be any possibility of installing the V2.10A (or V2.10B which has the ALL-IN-1 bridge) on the cluster? Apart from a horrendous bug in the range name tables being fixed, it also automatically puts you in /Edit mode when entering file specifications and such like (which V2.05 doesn't). How about it? Ta muchly! Tarik. |
