| Dear Heavenly Father,
It is so hard to know what exactly to pray for in a situation of
suicide. As a mother, I can only empathize as far as my mother's heart
allows me, but Lord you are the Father and your heart understands every
emotion accompanying this tragedy. Father, comfort this family and
those around them in a way that will also encompass this young 13 year
old sister. Should she have any guilt in her heart around this
suicide, Lord relieve her of it. I ask all of this in Jesus' name,
Amen.

| For Steve, in 6.23, and for all of us:
O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment,
and light riseth up in darkness for the godly; Grant
us, and especially Steve, in all our doubts and
uncertainties, the grace to ask what thou wouldest
have us to do, that the Spirit of Wisdom may save
us from all false choices, and that in thy light
we may see light, and in thy straight path may not
stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

| Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you this day rejoicing over Steve's humility and love for
you. Lord, I know that you care about every need of Steve's, but Lord
even more you do care about his desires too. I am confident, Abba,
that you will answer Steve's request. Lord, may he be willing to
accept your answer with faith and not by sight. I ask all of this in
the name of Jesus, Amen.

| Re: Note 6.23
Hi Steve,
I couldn't (and wouldn't) do otherwise but read your note
in its entirety. I HEAR you brother! I will be praying.
Work calls, but I'll catch you offline.
I don't think its only me that can relate to the idea that
one aspect of worldliness is a horrible need to wear masks.
To be cool, sufficient, in high regard, whatever.
I think part of Christianity includes the process of masks
being removed. Our true inner selves get revealed to us
in the light of God's pardoning grace (thank God or else
it would be too painful) and (sometimes) in a corporate sense.
We learn to bear each other's burdens. We, to some extent,
see each other's nakedness.
For the moment, as I must return to work, the best quick note
I can say to you is that I am most convicted that you have
done a WONDERFUL thing in writing your note. You will be
blessed.
Hebrews 13:3
Remember the prisoners as if chained with them, and those
who are mistreated, since you yourselves are in the body
also.
Psssst, I've got some problems of my own! (Just another
"resident basket-case.")
You're in His hands. Clearly you've permitted yourself there.
Take *Care*,
Tony

| I just need to thank you, Steve, for your openness here. I am SO with you in
where you are.
The one thing I can assure you of is that God DELIGHTS in your determination
to turn the control of your life over to Him. And He WILL answer your
prayers. Perhaps not as you might have expected, but He WILL answer!
And it will be better than you could ask or think or dream. :-)
Praying with you!

| Hi Steve,
I also understand where you are, its very similar to where I am too. I
think you are doing exactly the right thing by your prayer. I join
to support you in it also.
Being free to be more open is really a blessing. I never would have
believed it before though. :-)

Heavenly Father, I lift this woman Diane to you, that you might give her
peace and strength in dealing with this illness. Grant wisdom to the
doctors and her family. Lord, we know you are the great physician, and that
you've demonstrated over and again that you can confound the wise in these
situations. Lord, may you be glorified in the life of this woman and her
family..
In Jesus name
Amen

| Just as an update... the prayers have been very effective. Praise God
for being so good to me, and thank you all for your generous prayers.
It seems that God has given my lady friend a bit of added patience
(something that was confirmed for me last night... long story), she
thought I was too shy at first, and that there was no way she could
date me (she told me this last night... one of my personal prayers was
that she would give me a chance to get over the initial shyness before
deciding not to see me). We are getting along quite well now, though,
thanks to God. Continued prayers for this relationship would be
greatly appreciated.
Just thought my brothers and sisters would like to know that their
prayers were heard by the Allmighty, and answered. I know I'm always
encouraged when confirmation of answered prayers are brought to my
attention, so hopefully this will be encouraging to you... it is really
the main reason I post this note.
There may be hope for me yet. 8^)

| re 7.12
I know what you have been going trough, I too have been lonely and
single for many years.
When I did read this reply, it made me curious and I looked back
for your prayer request.
And I recognise some simularity with me.
I have had a time that I wasn't going to church at all anymore, be-
cause I thought that wat I was looking for wasn't there at all.
And at this christian notes file many years ago (about '86 or '87)
I made the same strugle, but my dear sister in Christ Irena made
me find me way back to a living community of christians who do care.
But then I got problems because of my loneliness and because the
pastor told me I looked to much for a girl and he told me that I
had to accept to stay single for the rest of my live, I stopped
attending to the services and started to look for a woman.
The only thing I knew, that she HAD to be a christian.
After one short relatianship with a non christian girl. (The
first relationship I ever had with a girl!)
I started writing with all girls I could possible find in a cor-
respondence club I noticed in a newspapers.
From all the writings non of them remained for very long time, I
was feeling quite hopeless and saw this try ending in nothing.
But after I decided not to write to more girls I received a letter
from a girl I had been writing, but who never responded yet.
I have been writing to this girl for about 4 years, when I was
thinking: "I just have to see her face to face.", but a great
distance made this not so easy.
After some considerations I ended up meeting her on a short vacation
in her country, I stayed with her brother and sister in law for
about 7 days, I'm not the far away going type, I prefer to work
some in and around my house instead of going on vacation.
For my it was rather a big step, to going away for a 13.5 our
flight to meet her in a place on the other side of the world.
But after this 7 day's I knew this was the woman for me, and the
same year I returned to collect her to come from Maurice to Holland.
In Holland you had many years ago a song: "Not married before you
are 40". And always I have been joking about this one like no need
to look for a girl yet, because I have to be 40 first.
And the real joke about this is that the day I finaly got married,
I was just finnish to get 41!
My wife is christian and with her I returned to the community I
left because of my "searching for a girl."
8 months ago my wife gave me a beautifull daughter, so I can say
that the Lord gave me a lot to be thankfull for, but He hasn't
certainly been doing things my way!
But I have to learn to be strong in the Lord, because I'm not.
I have to learn to trust on Him, to depend on Him for all.
My weakest point is to preserve time for God, because I have
never learned to do so.
My wife have a strong life of prayer, I'm glad for this, but I
know that this won't help me, I have to get a strong life of
prayer myself.

Thanks for sharing that.
God works things out in His good timing.
After thinking about this nice young lady all of yesterday, I arrived
at home to find a very sweet message on my answering machine from her.
Certainly made my day!
I can say that my past has helped me in (at least) one way... I could
never take this kind of relationship for granted. It is something to
be treasured (even in its infant stages).

| Thanks, Nancy.
No, I didn't get a video, but the laparoscopic (sp?) tools they used
looked pretty neat - and it was much easier than having the old "open"
surgery, which would take much longer to recover from.
It also was neat how the staff in the OR all joined in when I said a prayer
for God to use them to heal me - and when we prayed for all of the patients in
the hospital to be healed, they all gave a hearty "Amen"!... And then the
lights went out, so to speak, and I found myself in the Recovery Room, all
finished up.

| An encouraging testimony, Dave. Thanks for sharing your experience and
perspective.
Sometimes we shy away from praying for health, whether out of fear that
God might be diminished were He to not answer our prayer in expected or
desired ways, or out of negative response to name-it-claim-it abuses.
However, the Apostle John said to one of his (and our Father's) beloved
children, "I pray above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in
health, even as thy soul prospereth." (3Jn.2)
To see an OR staff give an hearty Amen to your prayer would seem to
indicate that God is the Healer, should healing occur.
Thanks again for your sacrifice of praise.
/Wayne
