Boy this conference has been pretty idle lately. So if anyone is still
out there here's my challenge ...
Does anyone know of a way to get a SUBHEAD to repeat on a PAGE_BREAK ?
I'm printing detail records beneath the SUBHEAD and if they run over
to another page I can't seem to figure out how to get the info
in the SUBHEAD to repeat.
Page 1 Heading Line 1
Heading Line 2
Heading Line 3
_________________________________________
Account Name : xxxxxxx <-- This is the SUBHEAD
DEC Number Detail
DEC Number Detail
etc.
Account Name : xxxxxxxx
DEC Number Detail
DEC Number Detail
etc.
Page 2 Heading Line 1
Heading Line 2
Heading line 3
__________________________________________
<-- I want to force the
DEC Number Detail SUBHEAD to reprint here
DEC Number Detail If detail continues on
a subsequent page.
A small (< $1.00) reward of choice will be considered to the first
one with a solution ;-).

Well, Sharon, if you want something at the top of every page all you
really have to do is make it part of the HEADING. If you have a field
such as ACCT_NAME in the heading, FOCUS will display whatever to value
is in it at the time the heading is printed. If ACCT_NAME changes and
it's a sort field with a subhead then the new value will be displayed.
Of course there is a down side to this approach. On the first page and
any page where there is a PAGE-BREAK at the same time there is a SORT
break, you will get 2 headings exactly alike, first in the page heading
then in the subhead. I guess alot depends on how much this will bother the
reader of the report.
Good luck. Greg

Thanx for your reply Greg, but the down side you mentioned ( having
info repeated twice in heading/subhead ) is exactly what I'm trying to
avoid. My example was much more simplistic that what I'm actually
trying to do with my actual SUBHEAD so I don't want repeating info
in Heading and Subheadings. I have tried making a key out of my
sort break field + the page Number to force a subhead on the new
created "break field". What I've found is that the first detail line
on a page has the previous page # however, so this reprints the
SUBHEAD after 1 additional detail line prints (close_but_no_cigar).
I've gone around with so many variations of this that I think I
need a whole new approach - maybe will try to figure out how to
make the Heading perform like a subhead and vice-versa. I'm sure
that will drive me really crazy ! Any more takers ? I'm even willing
to put my vintage 1992 crumpled by soaking Florida rain Disney Dollar up
for the reward !!!
