I'm responsible for gaining information on end-user products to be used
in the Information Delivery Environment (IDE) for GIA. At the moment
we have narrowed our choiced of a 4GL down to:
Focus
Teamdata/Rally
DECdecision
Datatrieve
Our criteria are mainly:
1) Works directly with Rdb
2) Ease of use by many levels of end users
3) Handles larger databases (100,000+ records)
4) Report writing
I'm reading the IC_TOOLS paper that is discussed in note 83(?) but I
want to make sure that some of the "facts" are up-to-date. Mainly that
Focus works with CDD+ (didn't at the time), Teamdata can deal with
bigger amounts of records (Rdb improvements), Focus can deal directly
with Rdb without having to unload and load it.
Any and all information would be extremely beneficial.

I Have an End-user product that may be of some use to you.. It's the standard European End-user reporting environment.. A user may use either FOCUS or Datatrieve, to create 2020 Spreadsheets Reports Graphs "Personal" Extract Data files (and allows format conversions between these formats..) It's front-ended by ALL-IN-1, and , as a benefit, offers a Menu-Guided interface to Datatrieve Please contact me for more information .. Don,
Have you decided what 4GL will be the winner? We're looking for 4GLs
too but our choice is narrowed down to FOCUS/POWERHOUSE/RALLY. We'd
like if the product could be downsized to the PCs since we have a lot
of them networked by PATHWORKS.
Give me some news if you get a decision.
