Hi there,

my wife wants to know what focus is and what it's used for. Any pointers to 
documentation or other info would be appreciated

    Well, the Installation Guide for 5.2.3 says:
    
    FOCUS is a Fourth-Generation Language and Database Management system
    that provides decision support capabilities to users, analysts, and
    data processing staff of all levels of experience. FOCUS contains
    facilities for generating Ad-hoc queries, complex reports, graphics,
    financial models, and statistical analyses. FOCUS provides a complete
    transaction-processing capability with full-screen data entry and
    application development facilities.

    In Europe, we use it for reporting only, on RDB, RMS, and FOCUS
    Databases - ie no Transaction processing, and only write to end-use
    data files.
    
    I Don't know of any on-line documentation, however.
