Hi, I have had a request to supply the medain point of aset of values. At the moment the FOCEXEC uses the AVE. prefix to calculate the average value. The problem with this is if you have 100 samples and the times of 99 of these samples is 10 minutes and 1 is 48 hours (which in our manufacturing environment is very possible) then the average would be 38'ish when the median would be 10 (which more closely represents the actual times). I checked the Users Manual and the User-Written Subroutines Library but couldn't find anything. I also checked the two FOCUS conferences (SHIRE and RUNTUF) but couldn't find anything either. Can anyone help me. Stuart.

In my FOCUS manual there is a chapter 14 where you can find all sorts of statistical operations most of them I can't understand. In paragraph 3.7 there is the median (midpoint or 50th percentile?) obtained from a hold file I suspect this is what you need. Good luck. Joel |
