In 1986, Digital negotiated a ten year corporate-wide contract with IBI for 
use of their 4GL, FOCUS.  This license covers the following modules and 
executables:

    	 Basic FOCUS Software	       	    		FOCUS.EXE
    	 Central Database Control Option    		
    	 RDB Database Interface Option (Read only)	FUSELIB.EXE
    	      	   	     	       	    		AUTORDB.FEX
    	      	   	     	       	    		FOCRDB.EXE
    	      	   	     	       	    		RDBFILE.ACX


Digital has negotiated a new three year support, maintenance, and update 
contract for these three modules.  This contract is effective from September 
1, 1989 until August 31, 1992.

To obtain a favorable price, Digital has agreed to the following:

1)  All FOCUS updates will be managed by the DIS Toolkit; IBI will no longer 
provide updates directly to sites.  You may obtain updates by calling DTN 
264-6026 or sending mail to PICA::FOCUS.

2)  Hotline Support will be provided by the DIS Toolkit; IBI has instructed 
its offices to accept calls only from the DIS Toolkit.  The Hotline can be 
reached at DTN 264-6026 or by sending mail to PICA::FOCUS.

Digital also has at one time acquired licenses for other options; these 
options and executables include

each license contract has already or is about to expire.  Negotiations for 
options licenses, as well as support contracts, are under way.  To help us 
obtain favorable pricing of these options, it is imperative that we know the 
extent of the installed base.  If you are using any of the options listed 
above, please notify Bob Blanchette, DIS Toolkit at DTN 264-3125 or 
PICA::BLANCHETTE immediately.  We would also appreciate it if you would forward
this memo on to anyone who may be using this software package.

As there may be some confusion as to who is covered by the new contract with
IBI, let me take this opportunity to clarify.

The new contract with IBI for support, maintenance and updates of its FOCUS
software (corporate-wide internal use is covered under 2 software licenses - one
US and one European) is a WORLD-WIDE contract.  It specifically covers US, 
Europe and GIA.

Peter Ingram @GEO is the focal point for Europe.  He is working in conjunction
with the DIS Toolkit which is the focal point for the US.

Sorry for any confusion that might have been caused.

    We have received confirmation from IBI that the RMS interface for
    FOCUS is part of the package we have license to use.  The confusion
    was the result of the different ways IBI sells their software. 
    It is possible for customers to by the RMS read-only interface separate
    from the read/write option.
