Hi, I am working with a customer who is considering purchasing a 3100 to act as a server in their network. They need to know if FOCUS which is installed on a Mvax3600 can query an Oracle Database on this server. Simply put, can FOCUS work in a networked client/server environment? Thanks for any help, S. Hewlett

Native FOCUS databases allow you to use a "server" environment through the use of the FOCUS Simultaneous Usage Facility. I don't have any manuals pertaining to accessing an Oracle Database but I do know that you can (or are supposed to be able to) access an RDB database that resides on a remote node. I have tried to use the remote access feature using the USE command but have not had much luck. A call to IBI was answered with the fact that they are lokking in to it and have submitted it to programming. Maybe someone else that has tried remote access can respond here. KC |
