217.0. "FOCURRENT AND MASTER FILE PASSWORDS FOR MULTIUSAGE APPLI." by RTOEU::ASCHWARZ () Tue May 23 1989 05:51
We have two problems with a Multi-user application:
1. FOCURRENT does not seem to be working (making any difference)
2. Master-file passwords do not seem to be working.
PROBLEM 1:
Two users are working on the same data simultaneously. The FEX file
contains a FOCURRENT validation, with an error message if FOCURRENT is
not equal to zero. Although we have simulated several sessions with
overlapping inputs, FOCUS has not once brought the error message to the
second user. It does seem, however, that the first user's inputs have
priority over the second user's.
Any tips about FOCURRENT???
PROBLEM 2:
Passwords defined in the masterfile limit each user to one specific value
for a given field.
EX: USER=HQ, ACCESS=RW, RESTRICT=VALUE, NAME= ONE, VALUE=DIST EQ 'HQ'
where ONE is the Segment name and DIST is a field
When two users start a menu-driven report simultaneously, with the
password in input via menu as a variable, the report crashes for one
user. There is no proper error message, but
EXEC:
>
appears, and I can no longer exit from Focus or the FEX, even using QUIT.
This occurs when the two users have the same password or different ones.
EXAMPLE FROM THE FEX FILE:
SET PASS=&VAL
-INCLUDE REP1
-GOTO ANYLABEL
-RUN
