The following is my correspondence with the keepers of the FOCUS software
(AL WALCOTT DTN 273-5840 VRO6-2/Y13").
Bob,
You can request that IBI perform a demonstration of FOCUS before you order it
via the following process:
1) You will need a Demonstration License, signed by your organization's Corp.
Officer, which would be processed by me, once you provide the following
information -
o CPU SITE LOCATION
o DESIRED DATE OF DEMONSTRATION
2) You should allow time (7 -10 days in advance) to allow mw to send the li-
cense to IBI for signature, as well as return to you to obtain internal
approval/signature. (I would think that this request would move rapidly
as Digital already has a Corporate-Wide, (unlimited) Internal Use Agree-
ment in place.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Regards,
Al
As you can see, the current rules are that you need a license, even though it's
free.
Personally, I felt it was a little too much to go through just to "kick the
tires". Besides, I would like to see it from the perspective of a real world
user.
By the way, I agree with the licensing requirement for free software, as it
allows the supporters to more easily support the users if they know who they
are.
