140.0. "Problem deleting fields" by WITNES::HOLT () Mon Oct 10 1988 16:12

    I'm having a problem updating fields...

    I'm using AUTOMOD to add/change/delete records from a one-segment
    database. Here's the problem - once I input data to a field, I
    cannot wipe the field clean again. I can CHANGE the field (say,
    from SSMI to SSM), but I can't simply take the data out.

    I've tried the delete key, the remove key (i.e. the select key
    on a Rainbow keypad), and putting in all spaces. No go.

    Anybody out there know what I've done, or am not doing?

    Thanks very much, Betsy

    Betsy,

    I just tried the same thing on a small database on my system.
    Same deal, whether I use FOCUS 1.3 or 5.2. You may want to talk
    to your local IBI rep. to see if other people have reported this
    in recent history. IBI has a strange way of dealing with what we
    users report as bugs. Sometimes they'll say that it'll be fixed
    in the next release (which prompted me to try both the old AND new
    releases) and actually fix it, or they'll say they will but eventually
    ignore it. If enough of us report it as a problem, they'll actually
    fix it.

    Sorry that I couldn't do more than just confirm it as a problem,
    but I hope this helps you a little.

140.2It's NOT me? What a surprise!ZONULE::HOLTThu Oct 13 1988 14:509

    Hi Wayne -

    Thanks for the reply. I take it, then, that this appears to be
    a software-related issue, and not something I'm doing? Hmmm.
    Kind of a bummer, huh? I'll let someone know, and hopefully they'll
    fix it in the next release.

    Thanks again, Betsy
