Can anybody give me some info. on extracting data from a focus file to be used in DECalc? Can a hold file be used with delimiters? Has anybody tried this? Thanks Dave

My wife, who uses FOCUS on a PC, says there is a utility that will extract FOCUS data into a LOTUS 1-2-3 format. If this utility exists on the VMS version, from there, you can convert the 1-2-3 file to DeCalc with XWAY. There are no provisions, though, to convert from 1-2-3 back to FOCUS. | |||||

You can directly put a FOCUS extract into a format readable by DECcalc ( and most other spreadsheets) by doing a TABLE FILE FOOBAR ON TABLE HOLD AS FILENAME FORMAT LOTUS END This creates a comma-separated file with strings encapsulated in quotes. (Foc manual 5.2 ch 9.1 "The HOLD File") Joris |
