112.0. "I don't do WINDOWS" by OFFPLS::RYAN () Thu Aug 11 1988 18:37
Version 5.2 opened up a lot of new features in FOCUS and corrected
a lot of old problems, such as the Fortran carriage control problem.
One of the nicest new features is WINDOWS. WINDOWS was created
from the routines TABLETALK used - or at least looks like TABLETALK's
screen handling. I've been playing around with WINDOWS for a awhile
and have been pretty impressed with the ease one can write dialogue
management oriented procedures. I particularly like the way WINDOWS
reads fieldnames from masters, picks of a directory of files, and
even reads the contents of files. There are other things about
WINDOWS I do not like (as always, the documentation).
If anyone is interested, I am working on a works-in-progress DECgraph
interface. Like the old FOCUS-DECgraph interface that has been
floating around the AIC/MDS environments, this one uses the same
approach except that it is made to look like TABLETALK so that
end-users will feel comfortable with it. HOWEVER IT IS UNFINISHED.
If anyone is interested in copying it, possibly enhancing it, all
the better. The programs are located in:
OFFPLS::USERA:[RYAN.GRAPHTLK]
You must be using v5.2. I have not yet program PF key recognition. The
primary programs to concern yourself with are GRAPHTLK.FMV (window file)
and GRAPHTLK.FEX. The main reason I'm putting this in now, is to
demo what WINDOWS can do and solicit input for enhancements.
