Can you bring FOCUS SU up from an account other that where the application software resides ? I have a FOCUS application that resides on DSK1:ACCOUNT1. For production purposes, we want to move the application software into read-only directories without any account name associated with them. Will I be able to bring up the Synch Machine from DSK1:ACCOUNT2 ? I come from and IBM/CMS environment and last I heard, you couldn't do this. How about in the DEC/VMS environment ? Any info. will be appreciated !

The SU server process gets its access rights from the account that starts it up. Generally, the account that starts the SU server should be the owner of the files, but as long as the account that starts the server process has read, write, execute, and delete priveleges for the file, what you want to do should work fine.
