54.0. "FOCUS RDB DIFFERENCE" by VOLGA::D_WHITE () Mon Apr 04 1988 09:48

    I am getting some different results with "IF" statements in FOCUS,
    when the file is a RDB file accessed by FOCUS or when the file is
    a FOCUS file accessed by FOCUS. The conditions are listed below
    has anybody had any similar results or solutions?

      The field in both files is described the same Fieldname = PART
    Format = A15.

    IF PART EQ '00-Q$00$-$$4.7' worked in focus file
    IF PART EQ '00-Q$00$-$$4.7' does not work in RDB file
    IF PART EQ '00-Q$00$-$$4.7' OR '00-Q$00$-4.7A' worked in RDB file

    IF PART EQ '00-Q$00$-$$4.7 ' worked in focus file
    IF PART EQ '00-Q$00$-$$4.7 ' does not work in RDB file

    IF PART EQ '00-Q$00$-$$4.7$' worked in focus file
    IF PART EQ '00-Q$00$-$$4.7$' worked in RDB file

    These part numbers do exist in both files but the selection criteria
    does not work the same in both files.

    						Thanks

54.1See descr. extern. file: USAGE & ACTUALPRSEIS::EMILEThu Jun 16 1988 05:0416
    The problem may come from how you describe the external file...

    Can you give me more information about "does not work..."?
    Please send '.MAS' of the two files.

    Any way, problem may be solved with USAGE or ACTUAL attributes.

       ACTUAL describe the format of the field in external files...
       (RdB for example).

       USAGE describe how the data should be used within FOCUS.
       (See Describing external files...).

    Good luck,

    Emile,
