According to the new GSA contract, purchases with open market
and GSA items must now be done via separate purchase order.
My understanding is that this is a customer requirement and
not a Digital requirement.
Unfortunately we really do not have a good way to accomodate
such orders. Everything must be done manually.
We can only invoice one purchase order number at a time.
If the customer orders, say, a factory-installed disc drive,
but the drive is open market, we get an immediate problem if
we try to process the drive on a separate DEC number.
In short, we are going to experience a lot of pain because
of this new regulation. Has anyone "up there" been informed
of the consequences of doing business this way? And if so,
do we have any plans to deal with it?
