A rep I work with has made the suggestion that the AQS be modified to generate quotes WITHOUT MODEL NUMBERS. In his previous company, this is how they did it. This STOPS quote shopping and allows us to sell on features and benefits. Comments?

<<< Note 136.0 by KYOA::KOCH "It never hurts to ask..." >>> -< Quotes without model numbers? >- If the customer were shopping the quote (to distributors or re-sellers I imagine), the description alone should give the other guy enough info to quote a competitive offering. But I wonder why we're still competing with our channels??

If it's that important, mail the quote to yourself via Vax mail or All in One and then edit out the part numbers.

Or Use the Executive Summary Option of AQS.

Re: .2 Wrong... The last thing we need is to have to edit anything. We're supposed to be more productive and this would make us less productive. And how many SR's would take the time??? I think that having quotes without part numbers is a reasonable idea but it should be an option in the reporting structure. Of course, as soon as you change the quote you may lose the pointer to the original parat numbers (which could lead to some interesting reconstructions)... Personally I would use them as a part of a proposal where I didn't want the customer to get bogged down in trivia. I personally find our quotes very hard to read and my customers, unless they are long term DEC customers, do to!!! Dwight |
