The following describes a sales and marketing PC system that is
available for Digital use in Europe. If you would like more
information, contact Kjeld Andersen @GEO , or tel. 821-4771 (remember
the time zone differnence !).
HOME RUN
========
I. General Description
======================
HOME RUN is an integrated Sales, Customer Services and Marketing
application, designed for laptops, notebooks and desktop PC's.
Acting both as an information and communications platform between field
personnel and the home office, enables a business to run more
effectively by integrating the information flow within a company,
thus providing management with valuable decision support information
via drill-down graphics.
The main users of the system are Sales, Customer Services,
Marketing professionals and management.
HOME RUN is made up of Sub-modules of functionality, it can therefore be
adapted to different companies' needs, providing functionality where it
is needed.
HOME RUN gives up-to-date business information on client contacts,
customer leads & projects and pipeline revenue generation.
New functionality for the sub-modules are developed and made available
on a quarterly basis.
II. HOME RUN v1.0 - Released end March, 1992
==============================================
The SERVER MODULE
=================
Consists of the central data repository and the main functions required
to run the HOME RUN environment: Access/Security, User definition,
Electronic Messaging, Account Structures, capability to organize the
sales/services force by Account, geography, by industry, by market
segment,
can be accessed via Networks through RS232, X.25, Decnet, Novell,
Pathworks.
The SERVER module ensures up/down load of net changes occurred between
the Client DB and the SERVER DB.
Furthermore, the application provides easy-to-use information
management utilities to manage Active, Dormant and Archieved customer
information catagorised as:
Public Information - for everyone to access
Shared Information - for a selected group to access
* Private Information - for owner to access, only
* Private information is not transferred onto the SERVER.
The other functionality within HOME RUN is available through the
different sub-modules:
The Sales Assistance Module
===========================
The Sales Activity Management sub-module :
- provides Account Activity Management i.e.
phone calling, personal visits, mailings
- lets you manage Business Opportunities and gives
Sales Cycle Tracking as well as
- Opportunity pipeline reporting
- provides personal in-house activity management i.e.
follow-up actions, task assignments, request handling,
activity reporting, expense reporting, allocation of
expenses to specific sales activities and viewing of
service reports.
- Account & Contact Management
- provides product information vis-a-vis competitor products
- gives capability to add notes to any Account, Opportunity,
Contact, Activity, Product, Team-member, Competitor or
Calendar
- lets you share information between team-members
- provides communication access to other users via a user
directory
- lets you manage a personal information file of private
addresses, contacts, hotels, restaurants etc.
The Customer Care Module
========================
The Services Activity Management sub-module :
- provides Customer Service Visit and Expense reporting
giving details concerning your cost of servicing
Accounts, Products and Services
- provides Services Activity management and reporting
capabilities.
- It allows you to consistently track areas of improvement
of your Customers' Satisfaction i.e.
by product/service, by geography, by Account,
by User group.
- Lets your service personnel view business opportunities
being pursued by the salesforce.
- Provides same system functionalities & capabilities as the
Sales Activity Management module.
III. Modules being developed for end Q4 FY92 Release

The Customer Care Module
========================
The Customer Services Call Management sub-module provides Call Handling
functionality, Call tracking and Call dispatching giving insight as to
how well you respond to your customers' needs, how well your products
and services meet market expectation and how often there are issues with
these.
The Market Intelligence Module
==============================
The Market Intelligence sub-modules :
- gives comparison of your products' marketshare
by geography versus that of your competitors'
products
- provides marketplace trends i.e.
demographic information.
- It also gives analytical information on which of your
company's products & services are selling well,
which are slow starters and which are non-starters.
- Provides valuable feedback on customers' perception
of your quality, price and service capabilities.
- gives capability to determine market entry costs and
customer satisfaction ratings with potential
market segments.
The Executive Information Module
================================
The Executive Information sub-modules ;
- provide Executives with drill-down graphics on
aggregated information including Sales performance
analysis by Salesperson, Salesgeography, Product(s),
Account(s), Revenue (order value) generated,
- comparison against competition i.e.
market share, customer satisfaction information
and customer care trends.
IV. Hardware and Software requirements
======================================
CLIENT
------
The minimum software and hardware requirements your computer system
needs to run Home Run successfully as a client are:
- MS-DOS v5.0 or later.
- a personal computer with the 80386sx processor
(or higher) and 2 megabytes (Mb) or more of memory (640k of
conventional memory and 1024k of extended memory).
- A hard disk with 20 megabytes of disk space, and a least one floppy
disk drive (3.50).
- A EGA/VGA card so that you can take full advantage of HOME RUN
easy-to-use graphical interface.
- A monitor that is supported by EGA/VGA so that you can take full
advantage of Home Run easy-to-use graphical interface.
- A printer if you wish to print.
- A mouse/trackball is highly recommended so
that you can take full advantage of HOME RUN easy-to-use graphical
interface.
- A modem is highly recommended so
that you can take full advantage of HOME RUN Up/Download function
and network capability.
MS-DOS SERVER
-------------

needs to run Home Run successfully as a server are:
- MS-DOS v5.0 or later.
- a computer with the 80486 processor
(or higher) and 4 megabytes (Mb) or more of memory (640k of
conventional memory and the rest for extended memory).
- A hard disk with 80 megabytes of disk space minimum, and a least one
floppy disk drive (3.50).
- A EGA/VGA card so that you can take full advantage of HOME RUN
easy-to-use graphical interface.
- A monitor that is supported by EGA/VGA so that you can take full
advantage of HOME RUN easy-to-use graphical interface.
- A printer.
- A mouse is highly recommended so
that you can take full advantage of HOME RUN easy-to-use graphical
interface.
- A modem is required for the Up/Download function.
- Pathwork v3.0 (or higher) is required to run HOME RUN server in a
network environment and use disk device on network.
- A Ethernet card. Though it is not required, an ethernet card is
highly recommended so that you can take full advantage of Home
Run using disk device on network.

To copy it on your Personal Computer here there are step by step
actions to perform:
- Get on PC connected on the Network via Pathwork.
- Insert formatted and empty 1.44Mb floppy disk into yours
device (A or B)
- Type the command:

PS: You will need the following hardware/software prerequisite:
- MS-DOS v3.3 or later
- 3Mb of available disk space
- 2Mb of RAM
- 3 1/2 floppy disk
- VGA
- 386 machine
- Compatible Extended. Manager. Memory. list:
. HIMEM.sys v2.0 or later
. SMARTDVR.sys v2.0 or later
. VDISK.sys no problem
. QEMM.sys v4.1 or later
. RAMDRIVE.sys v2.0 or later
. 386 (max) use v4.01, v4.02, and v4.06 or later.
Do not use any other versions otherwise
HOME RUN will crash.

| I have just tried to make a copy of HOMERUN to my PC.
I cannot access any PATHWORKS type application servers etc.
(very few field people have network access from their pc's).
I copied the directory on enea to a VAX machine and copied the
directory to my machine via KERMIT, but now I get no files to restore
when I run INSTALL.BAT.
Can you help?
