73.0. "Need Help! - MSCP See Note 68" by SWAM2::NEFF_HO () Thu Jan 30 1992 13:32

    Hello - please look at note 68 for details - I am looking for someone who
    can help me identify where/who I can find MSCP - Mass Storage Control
    Protocal - it is a DEC proprietary product and I need information on
    how I can get it for one of my customers. Someone had suggested
    calling CSS - they would are not the group.

    I really need some help/guidance on this - appreciate anyone's input!

    You might get some help from Bernardo [LEDS::RUB] Rub, or Bill Lewis
    [LEDS::LEWIS].   Also Fred Zayas [LEDS::ZAYAS].

       Have not investigated your request fully, but you might try our
    ASSETS library.

73.3MSCP Contact and clarificationCLOSUS::MUNSONTue Feb 04 1992 17:1312
    You should be able to get information on the process to get the MSCP
    specification (MSCP is not a "product," but rather the definition of
    how one talks to mass storage devices) from Paul Feresten @SHR or
    LEDS::FERESTEN, Mass Storage Marketing Manager. However, your
    description of the customer's situation doesn't strike me as one where
    the MSCP spec would apply. I.e.,

    o MSCP isn't used to talk to SCSI devices; they have their own protocol
    o MSCP is not the protocol used to talk to tape drives (TMSCP is)

    If the customer spoke with people in Colorado, who were they and why
    did they feel the MSCP spec would assist your customer?

On a slightly unrelated topic, does anyone know where I can get the spec for
the LAST protocol used with our Infoservers and PC products?

Regards,

Jim

    In regard to LAST, I would participate in the BLUMON::INFOSERVER
    conference. They should be able to point you to the people who maintain
    the LAST/LAD protocol suites.
