OPENING DAY
OPEN SYSTEMS
OPEN ADVANTAGE
I am planning a OPEN systems event in Buffalo for April 16, 1992
Its the opening day for our AAA Buffalo Bisons baseball team.
The event is targetted as a SME, new customer event only. I have the
entire day wired to the baseball theme;
1) Digital Baseball uniforms for VARS participating
2) Digital caps
3) Baseball memorabilia everywhere.
4) Ballpark lunch menu { dogs, nachos,nuts,.....}
5) Each VAR will "add" own special theme character
in either booth demo or trinkets...
6) � day event then FREE ticket to attendee for
" BISONS GAME SEASON OPENER " @ 1PM
7) Each VAR 1 target market speciality, not
multiple VARs in same market segment to fight over customers.
8) Each VAR receives ~250 invites for their new
customer target mail lists.
9) A Full Digital ad campaign to market the event ,
Newspaper, radio, telemarket to top 50 SME accts.
10)A " POWER " speaker to reinforce the
attendance. { BIGname, BIGcompany, Consultant..}
Its going great so far in the planning, VARS love the concept and plan.
I could really use input to what kind of Digital, non Digital speaker
would travel and support a SME OPEN systems event like this. I expect a
minimum of 50 - 100 people.
Any suggestions ??

This sounds like a great idea. We need to do more of these kinds
of events.
As far as a speaker is concerned, get Corporate Marketing
involved. They should be able to locate and *pay for* someone. I ran
a customer event last month and used Marketing to source my outside
speaker. For the last two years, I have been managing customer events in
the Field, so if you want some more information or pointers, feel free
to contact me offline.
