| Log #: 40 Requestor: Ellen Braustein/Toni DeMars
Description: Outsourcing Project - We are not receiving the ultimate duns
numbers for Headquarter records.
Ellen Braunstein at Digital received a report from the Outsourcing
process that showed 17 records we received with a site duns,
but no ultimate duns. She asked me to check these on our warehouse
file. I found 14 of the 17 on the warehouse file containing ult
duns numbers. I looked the other 3 up on the DDA tool. DDA showed
they are headquarter records. I checked a couple I found on the
warehouse against the DDA and they displayed an ult duns.
I questioned Marcia Kubersky of D&B about this. She said they were
not passing the ult duns if the record was a headquarter. She did
not know why they were doing that, but requested they change the
program to give us the ultimates on future files. This change is
estimated to take a couple of days.
A resulting problem of this is we now have HQ records without
ultimates. I have no idea the volume of this. I spoke with Vernon
Jones on the best way to get these from D&B so the BSRF file the
outsourcing data is going into will have better quality data.
Vernon asked that D&B resend our original record along with the D&B
data as if we just sent it to them via outsourcing (same format).
This resend should be done only for the HQ records we missed
receiving an ult duns numbers for.
If you feel this change may trigger any problems/issues, please contact me
immediately.

| Log #: 41
Description: When checking some of the changes of the ultimate duns number from
the 122K records sent to D&B, Sandra found the ultimate duns Jack
received was different than the one on DDA and in the Warehouse.
I questioned D&B on this. The answer I received is as follows:
The DDA tool and Warehouse file looks for the highest "Domestic"
ultimate duns number, which includes Canada. Therefore, a US company
owned by a Canadian company will use the Canadian ultimate duns as the
highest ult duns. The file in Lehigh Valley, however, does not include
Canada, and will, therefore, give you the highest ult in the US as the
highest "Domestic" ult duns number. For example,
Jack's report read:
.......SITE........ ........ULTM.......
CUST # COMPANY NAME OLD NEW OLD NEW
------- -------------------- --------- --------- --------- ---------
0719603 CONNECTICUT POST 001174051 001174051 242175776 609818950
The records for these numbers as Site duns in the warehouse reads:
Domestic DMI File:
SITE DUNS HQ DUNS PRNT DUNS ULT DUNS COMPANY NAME
--------- --------- --------- --------- ------------
001174051 001174051 153699822 242175776 Post Publishing Company
609818950 609818950 248231441 242175776 Thomson Newspapers Holdings De
Global DMI File:
SITE DUNS HQ_PA DUN INTL ULT COMPANY NAME
--------- --------- --------- ------------
242175776 000000000 242175776 THOMSON CORPORATION THE
We now have a situation where the ultimates between the warehouse file
and the data Jack received are different. This will also affect the AMID
rollups because D&B is now giving us a different ult duns than the one
we are using in the AMID structure. This may also affect the long term
plans of using Intl duns numbers to do Global reporting.

Log #: 42 Requestor: Sue Taillon
Description: Sue Taillon's group runs an extract of the CEO Names. This extract
fails if there are more than 250 records with the same CEO Name
within a company. The one it failed on is a company called
"Meldisco". I checked our warehouse file and found:
2,945 records starting with the company name "Meldisco"
1,132 of the 2,945 have the CEO Last Name = "Robinson"
1,127 of the 1,132 have the CEO First Name = "John"
1,126 of the 1,127 have the CEO Title = "President"
The question is why do so many records for Meldisco have the same
CEO name on them? Also, does this happen with other companies on
the file?

DESCRIPTION: Outsourcing - We need to understand the following:
1) What constitutes an "M" record? We are
charged for these records, correct?
2) What constitutes an "N" record? We are
not charged for these records, correct?
We were led to believe that we would not be
charged to build records on large companies,
such as Ameritech, Eastman Kodak, etc.
Why are they coded "M", and not "N"?
3) We received "M" records, but did not receive
duns data (ie Site Duns and SIC code) on them.
4) Why are personals coded as "M" records to be
built? We need to understand the process for
identifying personals.
