193.0. "Starting transaction on a BS2000 system form Digital UNIX" by ISIDRO::att542.sqo.dec.com::pozuelo () Thu Sep 21 1995 11:34

	Hi,

I've a prospect in Spain that is looking for a UNIX system that
have to be connected to a Siemens BS2000 and trigger transaction
against	that system running a transaction monitor called UTM.

As far as I know there is a Siemens product called CMX running
on their own Unix boxes that allows one of those systems to
be connected to the BS2000 and do the job.

	Does anybody knows if:

	a) There is any way to run UTM transactions form our Digital UNIX?

	b) There is a CMX-like product available on Digital UNIX?

As the Siemens world is new to me I'll apreciate any help.

	Thanks in advance.
	Emilio.

Digital won a multi million $ project recently here in Germany where they
had to demonstrate interworking on the basis of OSI TP (transaction processing)
between a Digital TP apllication, a Siemens UTM application and an IBM
CICS (?) application. The project manager for the pre-sales activities
was a guy called TOBIAS FOESTER @BER DTN 859-3187. He should have a lot more
details of how we did it.

No. I think we implemented the protocol using the OSAK Developers kit.
If you ask about OSI TP in the OSI_APPL_SUPPORT conference I'm sure Scott Wattum
will give you more information as he was also involved in the above project.

Hope this helps.

Glad to see someone is reading this conference.
