Digital sold his FTSIE products just before christmas to CGK Computer 
Gesellschaft Konstanz which is a 100% daughter company of SNI.

FTSIE products were based on the FT-SINIX source code and licenced from SNI for
porting to Digital platforms like OpenVMS and ULTRIX. They are going now the 
way back to the source code originator. The increasing questions regarding 
appropiate ports onto Alpha AXP platforms under OSF/1 and OpenVMS are the 
reason for the deal. To guarantee those ports and the further existence of 
FTSIE it was Digital's desire to get a competent 3rd party company for this task. In fact
SNI/CGK enlarged their portfolio of FT-SINIX ported products on other hardware
platforms in the last time. So it was an interesting increase of their portfolio
by the Digital platforms especially Alpha AXP.

The standard selling process will be done by CGK in the future except for
projects where Digital is managing as general entrepreneur.

The most important topics of the contract are :

1. to secure the further life of FTSIE products

   CGK will further maintain DEC FTSIE for OpenVMS VAX V2.0 for at least 24 
   months and sell it with prices which are not worse compared to competing 
   products.
   The old V1.4 of VAX FTSIE which were offered in parallel for some time is 
   end of life and will not be sold by CGK. At least all the mandatory versions
   of those needed or optional software products were not anymore available and
   even not supported in the meantime.

2. the ports to the Alpha AXP platforms

   Ports of FTSIE to the Alpha AXP platforms under OSF/1 and OpenVMS will be
   released at least 6 months after CGK is operable (most probably february 
   1995).
   The relaeses must be not more expensive or less funtional than the appropiate
   ports for IBM, HP or Sun.

3. that Digital is able furtheron to make projects which are based on the
   connection of the Digital and Siemens world

   Digital is able to purchase FTSIE as a reseller via our technical purchasing
   (Rolf Liedtke DTN 865-3617) with special discounts if Digital act in projects
   as a general entrepreneur.

The contract is a pure product selling for the moment not to risc further
delays before the porting to Alpha AXP could be started.
All Service aspects will be negociated at a later date in an addendum to the
contract. That means all service customers will be supported the same way as 
before.
