186.0. "Siemens <-> VAX connections" by LUX01::RECHT () Thu Jun 02 1994 13:04

Hi friends,

our customer Commerzbank in Luxembourg is asking us how to connect a BS2000 system
with a VAX / VMS system.

The VAX is presently running on DECnet, IPX and TCP/IP.
The BS2000 has something installed called DCAM V9.9

The bank says installing TCP/IP on BS2000 would take a very long time and would be
expensive. Is that so ?
They would like to use DCAM for their communication. Is there anything on VMS that
could talk to that system ? Soft ? Hard ?

Besides the above-mentioned considerations, what would probably be the best way to
make them talk together ?

Functionality required is : file transfer, task-to-task comms
Nobody mentioned remote login or so.

What do you say ?
Thanks for all help provided.
Cheers, Patrick

Hello Patrick,

there's a software product called DEC FTSIE for OpenVMS VAX V2.0 which covers
your needs.
This is a file transfer product based on DECnet/OSI which could exchange data
with BS2000 and SINIX systems. If remote login would be needed there's also
a product from Integrata which adds this functionality onto FTSIE.

SPD and other infos are included in this notes conference or you could have a
look to the following directory

	ECCGY4::DISK$USER:[EISENHUT.FTSIE$PUBLIC]

where you can see also a partnumber/price overview, how to order abroad etc..

Kind regards

Michael
