I'm trying to connect to a Siemens via MRX over Ethernet.
The Siemens is running CCP-LAN2 that supports ISO 8073 class 4 protocol.
The Siemens specialist asked me to exchange only Ethernet addresses
of the two machines, so I tried to communicate using "Null Internet".
After a lot of tries, I passed to "Internet" but the Siemens specialist
who is new to OSI (me too of course...) could not give me any hint to
build the NSAP address (more precisely the DSP).
Can anyone tell me:
1. Does Siemens CCP-LAN2 support "Null Internet" protocol?
2. If I must use "Internet" what are the Siemens defaults (pre-DSP,
area, SEL or whatever) that allow me to create a NSAP? (I've done
some testing using DEC defaults and other casual values with no
results)
3. Do Siemens TSAP default to NULL?
4. Can anyone post a working MRX configuration with a Siemens (I've
already spent a lot of time and a further delay on the project
would upset the Client.

PS. VMS 5.5-1, DECnet VAX Extensions (pathched), MRX 2.2-003
PPS. Of course I could have made some mistakes in setting up the VAX
configuration so I attach the trace at ROUTING and TRANSPORT level
of the "Null Internet" connection. The trace of TRANSPORT of the
"Internet" connection is almost exactly the same (apart from the
obvious things).

| The answer n. 1 is YES they support "Null Internet" an I could
send to Siemens MX X.400 messages. A problem exists when MX tries
to send a message to the Vax (Siemens systems drop the connection
with a code 84 (mismatched references) at tranport level).
The problem is SOLVED now:
Siemens developed a new version of CCP-LAN2 (v. 3.0b10) that
fixes their bug in dealing with calling and called TSAP after
the receipt of a CC packet from a VAX.
