BS2000 DCAM V11.0 (available now) supports ISO 8473 (DT-PDU and ER-PDU), ISO 9542 (ES- and IS-Hellos) and TCP/IP integrated into BCAM (Siemens transport layer). Siemens also offer a Socket interface (costs extra). This has MAJOR implications: 1. BS2000 can now be classified as a fully fledged OSI End-System and hence integrated into an OSI network. 2. BS2000 can be used as a TCP/IP host. 3. Major Opportunities to replace the ageing FEP generation of PDN systems. 4. DEC can provide now provide Siemens customers a backbone ie. connect WANs and LANs together, something that Siemens was not able to do with it's own equipment. regards John

Hi John, since a week we have a configuration running in Belgium. Siemens systems using the WANrouter backbone of DEC. Looks good. We do terminal emulation (9750) and printer emulation between BS2000 and Utrix over it. danny | |||||

Hi Danny, Great news. I'm not sure whether people realise the significance of this release of DCAM V11.0. There must be hundreds of installed TRANSDATA networks (at least in Europe) that are just crying out to be replaced by (DECnet/)OSI backbones. We should be going out there and telling these customers before they sell out to 3rd parties offering TCP/IP. What do you think ? John |
