Hi,
My customer want to use ALL-IN-1 from more than 500 '97801 SIEMENS
terminal'. 2 solutions seems to be possible

1) The 1st solution is to use a VT200 emulation in SINIX system (see notes 82
:EMVT from Conware). This solution is curently in evaluation, but in hardware
point of view, we are using a SINIX system as terminal server.
2) The 2nd solution is to use a driver (?) on VMS system to translate the
escapes sequences,... for the 97801 terminal.
	Existing hardware configuration :
                             +------------+
                             | 97801 8bits|
                             +---------+--+
                                       |
                    +-------------+ | SS97
                 +--+ ss97 to V24 +----+----------> direct connection to SINIX
              V24| +-------------+
                 |
            +----+----+
            | CISCO | terminal server
            +-+-----+-+
              | |
          LAT | | TCP/IP
              | |
           +--+---+-+--+-+
           | | UCX| |
           | +----+ |
           | VMS system |
           | ALL-IN-1 IOS|
           +-------------+

It's running! From a 97801 we can have a connection to VMS system (Via ss97 to
v24 converter and a Terminal server). But it's only possible to have a
connection as a line terminal (la120,...)
How can help me to use ALL-IN-1 with this second solution ?
Best regards,
Grard FLAMION - LUXEMBURG

| Regarding solution Nr. 2 you should talk to Ullrich Pelda @MFR part of
the Siemens A/c Team as they are also looking to provide a
"reverse-emulation" solution for a customer project.

Maybe you can both benefit from each other. Let us know how you get on.

Otherwise I'm sure there's quite a few people out there who have faced
a similar problem to this. Hopefully they are listening.

    Hi Gerard,

...strange configuration ... are you sure that the SINIX is not
connected to the LAN ? - or is the cisco terminal server configured in
    reverse mode ?

I can't see how EMvt should work in such a configuration.

    A working solution is:

    1. connect the SINIX System to the TCP/IP LAN.

    2.	Use EMVT and telnet (via REMOS) on the Sinix system. So you can
connect to the VMS system (running UCX) via TCP/IP.

    3. There are some restrictions in the EMVT like "no support for an
eight bit character set" and I do not no how this effects
All-in-one but a full screen mode should be possible anyway.

Your 2nd solution is not a simple one - but if you have it, I'm
    very interested in it !

Concerning John's reply (.1) Integrata is planning a "revers emulation" only
for 9750 terminals (BS2000). These terminals have nothing to do with
the 97801 for the SINIX systems - only they are Siemens prop.

I am interested in more informations about your configuration - perhaps
    there are other possibilities .

    Regards Ralf
