Emne: U: URGENT: Error in VAX-SIMATIC-S5

       Hi,

One of our customers, LIC Consult in Denmark, have bought the ASSET
called VAX-SIMATIC-S5. Unfortunately they have identified an error
in the ASSETS, which is why they have send me a FAX with the
       description of the problem.

Please find attached FAX from our customers, which hopefully is
sufficient information in order to give him a solution.

After receiving the FAX I called the customer for further
information, but where unable to help him. When the problem occurs
the process start idle and nothing happens.

Besides this essential problem, he also mentioned another issue. It
seems that VAX_SIMATIC-S5 sends some messages to the system console,
which the customer find annoying. Therefore he asks if it's possible
to send these messages into a separate file or similar ?

OK, that's all I've got. Please read attached information from our
customer and mail me soonest with your feedback. As the complete
system has to go to 'production' next week we would appreciate to
hear from you ASAP - also with some status information and contact
       name etc.

As I hope for your kind attention and response,

       	    Best regards from Copenhagen !!!

RE.: Simatic S5 Driver in MicroVAX 3200
Working problems registered from time to time

Please find enclosed informations concerning error functions to
one of our programmes - the only one which is used for Simatic S5
Driver. For no apparently reason the programme TCP sometimes wait
for an event flag compared to enclosed copy of the proces
condition (SHOW PROC/ID-XX/CONT). Apparently this event flag is
never set.

LIC does not use event flag but calls the S5 procedure S5$QIOW.

The error is up till now only registered when the programme is
running in the batch queue.

"Current PC" - 7FFEE44C leads into the VMS procedure SYS$CREATE,
compared to enclosed map fil, which is called from a procedure in
one of our libraries, but the wanted procedure NEW.HEAP in the
module HEAP is not included the TCP programme.

It has not been possible to clearify whether S5$QIOW or under-
lying procedures are calling SYS$CREATE.

"The error" is maybe placed in either SYS$CREATE or in the S5
procedure.

Best regards,

LIC Consult
