Are you talking of a Siemens or Digital product? Do you have the slightest view what this product is about? Regards Elisabeth | |||||
48.2 | OSAP = DEC's implementation of AP | RTOEU::KPLUSZYNSKI | Klaus Pluszynski, ACT-Mfg.Ind. | Fri Feb 02 1990 15:56 | 22 |
OSAP is a DEC product which is currently under development in Turin. The product manager is Lorenzo Pengo (CESARE::PENGO). OSAP is Digitals implementation of the Siemens AP protocols. AP stands for Automation Protocol and is a Siemens proprietary protocol to interconnect shop floor equipment like NC controllers or PLC and general purpose computers. AP is based on SINEC H1 ( which is Ethernet IEEE 802.3 + OSI protocols for Layer 3 and 4 ) and implements layers 5 to 7 of the OSI-Model. We currently offer a solution for communication between a VAX and a SIMATIC S5 PLC using SINEC H1. It is a PASS available from the European ASSETS Library named VSH1. OSAP will extend the range of Siemens shop floor devices which we can talk to from PLC's to all Siemens devices supporting AP. Hope this helps, Klaus to |
