PADERBORN/MUNICH, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nixdorf Computer AG, 
Paderborn, and Siemens AG, Berlin and Munich (Germany), have agreed to 
cooperate in the field of data and information technology.

Until now both companies have focused their operations in this 
field on different market segments and geographic areas.  Due to 
relatively small overlapping, this alliance will offer significant 
opportunities to exploit synergetic effects.

The Nixdorf-related foundations, the Nixdorf family and Siemens, 
have agreed that -- subject to the approval of the responsible boards 
and authorities -- Siemens AG will acquire a majority of the common 
stock of Nixdorf Computer AG.  Siemens AG is to transfer its Data and 
Information Systems Group to Nixdorf Computer AG.

Nixdorf will continue to pursue the measures already introduced to 
strengthen its competitiveness.

The new joint venture, to be named SIEMENS-NIXDORF 
Information systeme AG, will have annual sales of around DM 12 billion.

Corp., headquartered in Waltham, Mass.  Nixdorf Computer Corp. is a 
leading marketer of business system solutions incorporating hardware, 
software and communications.
