24.4 | VOTS trace not available at the moment | VNABRW::SMOLNIK | Alfred Smolnik, SWAS Vienna, Austria | Tue Jun 20 1989 19:02 | 12 |

Thank you all for your quick response, unfortunately I have'nt
got the VOTS trace at the moment, the customer is quite far from
out office. I have told him already to send it over to me on tape,
but it will take one or two days.
I will post the VOTS trace as soon as I get it.

Alfred

24.5 | No chance with 9688 | MUNTRA::SCHIMMEL | The Answer Is 42 | Wed Jun 21 1989 10:38 | 20 |
| hi,
a 9688 is not mentioned in the SPD - because during
tests at SIEMENS we discovered that it is impossible to establish
a connection via this system.
Examining traces will be a waste of time therefore ...
Besides, the connection from VAX to BS2000 machine is also impossible via
9688. You can try it by adding the BS2000 system with another name
and the ethernet address of the 9688 to the FTSIE address book.
The solution to Your problem is: "tell" the BS2000 system to use
the 9632 instead of the 9688. This must be possible, because I've
been working with the same configuration at a SIEMENS RZ and all
transfers via 9632 have been successful (in both directions, and
no matter whether the initiating system has been the VAX or the BS2000
system).

24.6 | They are using the 9632 | VNABRW::SMOLNIK | Alfred Smolnik, SWAS Vienna, Austria | Fri Jun 23 1989 10:10 | 27 |

re .5:
sorry, I was pointed in the wrong direction by the customer (since
he is responsible for the VAX side only and does not know about
BS2000 either I had to ask him again about the configuration):
- They are using the 9632.
- File transfers initiated by BS2000 do not work since they
installed a 9688 (this happened already with FTSIE V1.1, so they
upgraded to FTSIE V1.2 and hoped to get it work with this version).
- Most probably during the generation for the new 9688 they
changed some parameter in the way the communication between
BS2000 and VMS does not work any more, but the problem is,
we have find out this parameter, since the people responsible
for the BS2000 side are convinced everything is ok.
So it would be great help if somebody could tell me about the
important parameters of the Siemens part.

Alfred

Ich habe die Parameter wieder gefunden - die ALL-IN-1 Ablage kann
machmal zu einem Sumpf werden.
In Note 26 knnen gerne weitere Inputs dazu abgelegt werden.
