ZAP [TM]
Release 5.2 Release Notes
October 28, 1993
This document contains a list of new and changed
features, known software and documentation error
and undocumented usage hints for DEC ZAP for VMS
Release 5.2.
(c) 1993 by Digital Equipment Corporation
1 Problems corrected
The following list summarizes the problems that have been
corrected in the 5.2 release of ZAP.
o Due to a change in DECwindows, the proper action for
removing a group of DECwindows processes has changed.
This version incorporates this change in behavior.
o The START action now clears all process information.
o The monitor now only looks at the logical name ZAP$RUN_
STATUS in executive mode. This prevents users from
defining this logical in one mode and the monitor not
being able to reset it.
o The IDLE_IMAGE configuration parameter did not work.
This has been corrected.
2 New and Changed Features
The following list summarizes the changes and additional
functions in the 5.2 release of ZAP.
o An LMF license is now required for this version of ZAP.
o In order to safeguard systems, a rule has been coded
into ZAP which prevents it from killing key system
processes. These are detached processes which are the
[1,4] UIC.
o Process terminations now result in the process record
being cleared from memory, which will result in
the idle time being reset if the process does not
get deleted for any reason. This allows user action
routines more time to kill processes.

Alpha VMS is not yet supported with this release (although the release notes
mistakenly indicate so). Plans are to include support for it in the next
release.

| Hello Keith...
I've received some requests on the expected date to provide ZAP on
OpenVMS/AXP...
If you have any news on that...
Thanks for your answer...
Best Regards...

The next release will include Alpha VMS support.
I can not yet say when the next release will be available. As soon
as I can, I will post it here.
