A quick ZAP question. I have a customer who is using a manufacturing package which is on-line and screen oriented. As you can imagine, the average user often 'forgets' to log out from the screens. Once a week, a batch job is kicked off. It often fails because a user has forgotten to log out and a file is still open because of this. The question from the customer - will ZAP, besides logging of the idle user, close the files? The customer is not concerned that information may be lost. He just wants to be certain that the files are all closed so the batch job won't fail. Thanks, Pam Harnois

Hi, When any process is terminated, all of the files that it had open at the time are closed. Due to the way certain applications are written, this may or may not involve the loss of any transactions in progress. Note that RDB applications should use the RMU commands to close the applications, which will cause users to close the files automatically. Keith |
