78.0. "ZAP and ALL-IN-1 broadcast trapping" by PRIAM::OESTREICHER (Lloyd - DTN 334-2556) Tue Jun 19 1990 15:48

I have a customer who wishes to purchase ZAP for terminating
ALL-IN-1 users on their cluster. They run ALL-IN-1 with
broadcast trapping enabled ($ALLIN1/BROADCAST) which nicely
writes new mail notifications on line 24 rather than at the cursor
position but, it causes ZAP notifications to not come out at all.

When running ALL-IN-1 with broadcast trapping disabled, the
ZAP notifications come out normally at the top of the screen
and the new mail notifications come out at the cursor position.

Is it possible, either with a parameter change or a code change,
to have ZAP notifications either come out normally at the top of the
screen or alternatively on line 24? They will not change their
requirement to have ALL-IN-1 run with broadcast trapping enabled.

    Thanks,
    Lloyd

It could be that the type of message being sent by ZAP is the
problem. What I would try is to make the ZAP warning message a
single line message that is displayed in "line mode". To do
this, change the message file to something like:

    %l%b[ZAP - Idle time remaining %r]

If the message is reduced to one line, it may display the message
    correctly.
