62.0. "Question about subprocesses / ALL-IN-1" by CSOA1::SABO (RoboResident) Wed Apr 26 1989 12:11

I have a question regarding how ZAP monitors subprocesses. We have
a user who runs ALL-IN-1. From ALL-IN-1, the user selects an option
to run 2020 spreadsheet. This action creates a subprocess. When
the user exits 2020, he is returned to the ALL-IN-1 main process.
However, the subprocess remains in the system until he exits ALL-IN-1.
During this time, ZAP v3.8 does not seem to see that this subprocess,
which is not accumulating any CPU time. We do have traceback =
false in the ZAP.DAT file, which is supposed to catch this type
of situation and the user would like for these subprocesses to go
    away.

Does anyone have ideas what could be causing ZAP to not catch these
    subprocesses?

    Thanks,

    Joe

ZAP should function as you believe it to. As long as ALL-IN-1 does
not again use the process, the process should go away after the
    idle time limit is reached.

To get some background, could you please post (or mail to GOLF::MACONI)
your latest ZAP.DAT and ZAP.LOG files. I will take a look at these
and try to re-create the problem here.

Also, could you please include the cpu type and VMS version that
    you are running ZAP on.

    					Thanks,
